David Adams' Private Archives

Since the death of David Adams, our president – local man, historian and cartographer, we have been working on his papers and accessioning them. Some have been sent to relevant other archives at :  Wolverhampton,  Sunderland, Edinburgh and Isle of Man! At the moment we have accessioned  over 200 items. These show David’s wide range of interest and local involvement in Newport life from Young Farmers to  Combat Stress. The newspapers are waiting to be assessed – how to deal with such fragile items which have a short shelf life because newsprint is so fragile. We  are anticipating many of David’s maps coming to our archives via the S. Brian Williams/ Liddle & Heane loan which will have to be assessed and accessioned.
