In November 2013 the Newport History Society produced a report on their research on a bank and ditch between the fields recorded as “Old Hall Field” (to the W) and “Black Butts” (to the E) on the Tithe Maps for Church Aston and Chetwynd Aston respectively. Their report, now also a Shropshire Council Heritage and Environment Record, is here as a PDF.

Interim Report! Julian Meeson – 27 April 2015 Introduction! The area investigated by the Newport History Society lies to the east of Lindore Wood. It is comprised of three fields (only two of which could be surveyed, due to the third being waterlogged), which at the time of the investigation had been ploughed and re-seeded with grass seed, to return the fields to pasture.
