  • “Old Hall Field” and “Black Butts” Report
    August 2nd, 2021 in Newsletter

In November 2013 the Newport History Society produced a report on their research on a bank and ditch between the fields recorded as “Old Hall Field” (to the W) and “Black Butts” (to the E) on the Tithe Maps for Church Aston and Chetwynd Aston respectively. While the Field Archaeology Group are usually looking out for prehistoric, Roman and mediaeval items, they also come across much recent finds: Terry Hayward managed to track down the bag seal that he found on Coppice bank, details below. Guano Seal, Anglo Continental Anglo-Continental Guano Works Ltd.
