This year the main part of our AGM meeting will include a talk from Professor Richard Hoyle titled ‘Self-help in an English Town: Improving Newport 1700-1900: The Townscape, Institutions and Amenities.’
Professor Hoyle is Chairman of Victoria County History (Shropshire) and leading the research and writing of a new and definitive history of Newport to be published within the Victoria County History Red Book series. He is a recognised expert in Agricultural History and has published extensively. In this presentation, he will focus on parts of Newport’s history that shaped its development at a key period in history.
